1-day trip Vychylovka - open-air museum + train ride
In the north of Slovakia, in the Beskydy Mountains, we will discover completely unknown corners of Slovakia. We will visit the open-air museum in Vychylovka and enjoy a ride on the historic forest railway. In Stara Bystrica, we will stop at the Slovak astronomical clock, which is the only one of its kind in Slovakia. From there we will take a mountain road to Malá Fatra National Park. We will walk along the hiking trail to the Jánošík hole gorge. The lunch break will be in a traditional Slovak restaurant at the beginning of the gorge. In the afternoon we will visit the church in Terchová, which has a carved nativity scene with moving figures. On the way back, we will stop in the regional town of Žilina (beautiful Mariánske námestie with exceptional architecture and the old town hall). The way back leads through the Váh valley with many castles and mountain scenery. Entrance fees to the open-air museum and to the train are paid by the participants themselves, depending on their age.
