Silver collector's coin worth 10 euros Bozena Slančíková Timrava - 150th anniversary of her birth

Božena Slančíková Timrava (October 2, 1867 – November 27, 1951) is a leading representative of late literary realism. In his works, he captures the life of peasants, village intelligentsia and nationally oriented society. They also feature a psychologically refined type of heroine with previously unusual feelings of sadness and disillusionment, which were related to the contemporary social atmosphere at the turn of the century. Her work is characterized by autobiographical elements, a critical view, irony and an emphasis on the psychology of the characters. In the last period of her work, she also focused on serious social issues. She is the author of many short stories and novellas: For whom to go?, The helper, The difficult position, So it's free, Late, The unlovable, Ball, Experience, Without pride, Great luck, That land beckons, Vanity everything, Řapákovci, Heroes, Skon Paľa Ročka, Two times, Flood. She also occasionally wrote plays, but they did not reach the level of her prose.

Obverse:

The obverse of the coin shows an open book with the motif of Božena Slančíková's well-known work Timrava Ťapákovci. A writing quill is placed on the book. The national coat of arms of the Slovak Republic is in the lower part of the coin field. Next to it is the name of the state SLOVAKIA, under which is the year 2017. In the upper part of the coin field, there is an indication of the coin's nominal value of 10 EURO.

Reverse side:

The reverse of the coin shows a portrait of Božena Slančíková Timrava in a composition with an open book. Below the composition is the first and last name BOŽENA SLANČÍKOVÁ and below them the pseudonym TIMRAVA. Under the pseudonym is the mark of Mincovne Kremnica MK and the mark of the author of the coin Asamat Baltaev, DiS. In the upper part of the coin field, the dates of birth and death of Božena Slančíková Timrava 1867 and 1951 are in two lines.
