Silver collector's coin worth 10 euros Dušan Samuel Jurkovič - 150th anniversary of his birth

Dušan Samuel Jurkovič (August 23, 1868 – December 21, 1947) is one of the most prominent figures of Slovak architecture in the 20th century. His numerous and varied work, which is characterized by a characteristic authorial expression, became part of the multifaceted process of shaping modern Slovak architecture. At the end of the 19th century, he designed buildings that are among his most famous works inspired by folklore - Hermitages on Radhoště. In 1928, he created one of the iconic works of modern architecture – the Mound of Milan Rastislav Štefánik on Bradla. His ideas in the field of monument creation were fully reflected in this work. Jurkovič's versatility is also evidenced by the industrial buildings he created in the 1930s. Among them, the cable car station on Lomnický štít in the High Tatras has an exceptional position.

Obverse:

The obverse side of the coin shows two masterpieces of architecture by Dušan Samuel Jurkovič – the mound of Milan Rastislav Štefánik on Bradla and the top station of the cable car on Lomnicki štít. The national coat of arms of the Slovak Republic is in the lower part of the coin field. Below it are the year 2018 and the name of the state SLOVAKIA in two lines. The designation of the nominal value of the 10 EURO coin is in the upper part of the coin field. The stylized initials of the author of the coin design, Karol Liček KL, and the Kremnica Mint mark, consisting of the abbreviation MK placed between two stamps, are to the right of the mound.

Reverse side:

The reverse side of the coin shows the portrait of Dušan Samuel Jurkovič, which is complemented by stained glass motifs from his architectural works in the upper and lower right parts of the coin field. Between the stained glass windows, the names and surname "DUŠAN SAMUEL JURKOVIC" and the dates of his birth and death 1868 - 1947 are listed in rows.
