Silver collector's coin worth 20 euros Levoča Memorial Reserve and the 500th anniversary of the completion of the main altar in the Church of St. Jacob

Levoča grew up at the crossroads of trade routes in eastern Slovakia under the Levočské vrchy. Together with the Spiš Castle and the cultural monuments of its surroundings, it represents an authentically preserved set of medieval settlements that has no equivalent anywhere in the world. That is why it was included in the UNESCO World Heritage List. Evidence of the city's wealth in the Middle Ages is the building and wall system from the 13th to 15th centuries. The main square, which was surrounded by the houses of wealthy townspeople, was gradually filled with the construction of public buildings. The parish church of St. was built in the middle of the square in the 14th century. Jakub and south of it the town hall. Master Pavol, an important carver, worked in Levoča. Many unique carvings come from his workshop, including the highest preserved Late Gothic wing altar in the world - the Main Altar in the Church of St. Jakub, which was built between 1507 and 1517. The city has a number of unique monuments preserved in its fortified medieval core, and in 1955 it was declared a city monument reserve.

Obverse:

Three sculptures of the altar cabinet from the main altar of the Church of St. Jakub in Levoča emerging from three blocks of wood. In the lower part of the sculpture located on the right is the national emblem of the Slovak Republic. In the lower part of the middle sculpture is the year 2017, under which there is an indication of the nominal value of the 20 EURO coin in two lines. Beneath it is the mark of the Kremnica Mint MK and the stylized initials of the name and surname of the author of the design of the coin, Pavel Károly PK. In the lower part of the sculpture located on the left is the year of completion of the main altar in the Church of St. Jakub 1517, under which is the mark of Master Pavle. At the lower edge of the coin, the name of the state SLOVAKIA is in the description.

Reverse side:

The reverse side of the coin shows part of the Church of St. Jakub with a tower and the town hall in Levoča. In the background, the composition is complemented by a Gothic window, in the lower part of which there is an ornamental decoration of the altar. In the left part of the coin field is the coat of arms of the city of Levoča. Near the lower edge of the coin on the left, in the description, there is the inscription PAMIATKOVÁ REZERVÁCIA in two lines and the inscription LEVOČA on the right.
